Bears & Butterflies: 41+ Hibernation Activities

I am very honored to have Carla from Preschool Powol Packets be a guest on our blog today!!!  She has released a wonderful book that we have started enjoying with Caty and Lydia.  They are loving the various activities in Bears & Butterflies:  41+ Hibernation Activities!!!  It is packed full of math, science and reading activities.  I now introduce Carla:

First of all, I want to thank Renita for having me over today!  This blog is fabulous, and I am very excited to be here!

This is the first week of my two-week blog tour celebrating the release of my new Ebook, Bears & Butterflies: 41+ Hibernation Activities!  As part of the celebration, I am visiting some amazing blogs, sharing free printables, and giving away a $10.00 Amazon Gift Card!!  Keep reading for more blog tour details!

First, I'm going to share
5 Tips for Teaching Young Children Science Through Fun Activities.  These are based on my experiences as a school teacher, mother, and home daycare provider.  I'd love to hear your ideas too!

#1: A love of learning is paramount!  "School Time" should be fun, engaging, and (when possible) child-led.  Enjoy it!
#2: Help your children develop a "science attitude" -- one where the child asks questions and thinks of ways to answer them.
#3: Don't stress the details!  If your child doesn't remember each fact...it's okay!
#4: Let your children use their hands...and as many senses as possible!  They will learn more, remember better, and apply faster information that they have learned by using more senses.
#5: "Repetition is the mother of learning."  If your child has a favorite experiment, let them do it every day for a week.  Or twice a day.  They are learning from it!

Now, for the Blog Tour Details:

1- To celebrate the release of my new Ebook, Bears & Butterflies: 41+ Hibernation ActivitiesI will be visiting eight blogs during the next two weeks.  Each blog tour "stop" will include a freebie or flash giveaway AND a chance to enter a drawing for the Amazon Gift Card!

2- All readers of Krazy Kuehner Days can download the colors butterfly emergent reader for free!  It ties in perfectly to a hibernation unit (some butterflies hibernate) and is also fun on its own!

3- To enter the drawing for the $10.00 Amazon Gift Card, just leave a relevant comment to this post!  (If your email isn't in your public profile, include that in your comment too.)  Everyone who leaves a comment at a post on the blog tour will be entered in the drawing.  Since there will be eight stops, you will have eight chances to enter.  Visit Preschool Powol Packets for a schedule and more details.  A winner will be drawn on Saturday, February 9th.

Thank you again, Renita, for hosting me today!!
