Our Anniversary Party

We will be celebrating our 13th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow.  (Ok...I use the term celebrate loosely since Joe has a test to check the carpal tunnel in his hand and I accidentally scheduled a field trip for the kids and I.)  My brother and his wife will be celebrating 12 years next week and my parents celebrated 37 years this past Tuesday.  So we all include the kids in on our celebration together.  Our big family party was this weekend.  Here's a few highlights:

My parents love flamingos, and a local autism school was having a fundraiser in which you could rent a "flock" of flamingos.  So we had them "flocked".
Piles of presents
Piles of presents
Playing with the balloons while not waiting patiently to open presents.
Grandpa and Grandma were very generous again!!
This a painting of all the kids feet that I turned into flamingos.  (A mom in our homeschool group inspired me to try this once and see how it would turn out....no where near what Sara can do but it was neat to try. )
Brayden found a corner to open presents in.
Lydia loves Justin Bieber.
Joey usually stays on couch and covers himself in opened presents and wrapping paper.
Lydia has been begging for a jewelry box.
Brayden loving his new toys.
This got screams from all the girls.  Each one got a Go-Go puppy.
Caty just loves ripping open paper...but who doesn't?!?!
Then it's time to eat and relax.....

Playing with the balloons.  She kept trying to put them under everyone's shirts.

Playing with toys.

 Eating cake....

We had ribs and all kinds of good food from a local restaurant.

Then there was more playing with new toys.  Brayden loves his Ipad

 Caty tried all the cakes.
More playing when we got home.

More LEGO building with his new PowerMiners set.
Lydia loved her Justin Bieber clothes and sweatshirt.
And then it was time to crash after the long day.

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. That flock of flamingos thing is brilliant!!! What a fun and adorable idea!!! I also really like the painting of their feet as flamingos. I did something like that last year with my kiddo's feet as flower and it was really cute! Have a great rest of your weekend!

  5. Following back, my new friend! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! We have had to postpone our celebrations before, just make sure that you DO end up celebrating together..ALONE, lol. At some point. I know it's hard.

WOW, I agree your little curly blonde beauty, is just a doll. Wouldn't we all kill for that hair? lol...seriously.

Looks like they really got spoiled. I have a beiber fan myself over here. Grandma and grandpa are amazing. I wish my children had such loving, generous grandparents, who were as interested in them as are theirs. That really hurts my heart sometimes. You and they are very lucky.

Amazing family you have. Looking forward to more. Lovely photos.

    xoxo Shelly

  9. In response to thoughts about responsibilities, 2 questions come to mind: Is the task something he is capable of doing? and are you able to follow through to see that it gets done each day?
You can teach a task in steps- beginning to end or end to beginning. Just teach one part of the task. When that is mastered (can be days), add the next step until it's mastered.

The challenge with behavioral issues is you have to be dedicated and creative to see that the job gets done even when the child doesn't want to do it. The first rule is "there is no other option." Then figure out how to make it happen.
