EEME Science Kits Review

Our kids like two types of science.  They like life science and lots of hands-on experiments.  So that is why I try to make all science into some type of experiment.  We recently had the opportunity to try out a program called EEME.  EEME provides families with online lessons and hands-on project kits to learn electronics.  Targeted for kids ages 7 - 12 years old, online video lessons are provided, with new projects each month.  We were very excited to get a chance to try this product.

We received our electronics kit in the mail.  I opened it up and just kind of stared for a few minutes.  EEME has you covered though.  When I logged in to our account and clicked on the project, step by step video instructions were included to help us out.  They really do include very basic instructions, including a checklist video to make sure that all the parts are there before you even get started.  (That really helped me out.)

Joey and I got started and it was very, very helpful that each step was performed right in front of us.  Just as if an electronics teacher was standing in the room with us.

I highly recommend that you watch and follow the directions completely.  Because I tried to follow along and do the steps as he was online, and I got some wiring backwards.  So make sure to watch and then do the lesson.  But we still got our circuit built and working!!

This is a picture of how clear it is for the step by step directions in the tutorial.

At the end of most sections, there are questions to answer.  I really liked this, because even when I didn't think that Joey was listening....I learned he actually was, just in his own way.  He was able to answer the questions easily.

Our finished bread board and light...

Then Joey and Joe finished putting together their Genius Light Box.  My pictures turned out blurry and not good, so I don't have any of them building it.  But you can see they got it to work.  Here is Joey playing with the light sensor.

I have been very happy with EEME Science Kit.  We are still working our way through the set, and will continue to do so.  This has been a great addition to our science this year.  Joey was getting bored with play life science and human body, so these hands-on projects reminded him how much he still did like science.  Each activity is short, so I was able to judge according to his attention span how long to keep going on the videos.  One day it was just a two short videos, and yet another I broke it up with 10 minutes in the morning and some time with dad and him building that evening.

Each activity has a full explanation as to why it works, which was awesome since I am "electronically science challenged" in explanations.  This is a great addition to an electronics science study.  All the planning is done for you, and you can easily just pull out the projects and be ready to go.

EEME can be purchased monthly for $18.95 (5 month subscription).  You do not need a subscription for each student in your family.  Each month a new project is shipped to your home.  (I like this because I do not need to spend time tracking down project materials.)

If you are still not sure if EEME is going to be a fit for your family, you can sign up for free science videos on the EEME.co website.  If you think EEME is the right fit for your family, email dad@eeme.co for the latest promotional offer towards their monthly subscription. Just let them know you came from my blog.

EEME really did cause Joey to stop and think and use his problem solving skills to figure out the circuits.  I plan to continue this program with him as a supplement for his science studies during those "boring" weeks as he calls them.

Several other members of the Schoolhouse Review Crew were able to try out EEME project Kit.  See how it worked in their homes while you are checking out the curricula links above.
