We recently had the opportunity test out the Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd Edition Advantage Set from Apologia EducationalMinistries. We were not disappointed!
The Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd Edition Advantage Set ($115.00) includes the Student Textbook, Tests and Solutions Manual, and the Student Notebook. The pre-requisite is for this program is that you have preferably completed the Apologia Educational Ministries - Biology program or another equivalent high school biology program. Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd edition was created as a college-preparatory course for homeschoolers and is meant to be used by upper level high school students. It contains sixteen modules that can be completed over a 34-week time frame, concentrating on a 5 day a week school schedule.
The textbook is a high-quality hardcover book with full-color illustrations throughout. Each Module is broken up into smaller chapters or sections. Each module contains the reading material, experiments to go with the reading, as well as questions to follow-up with the material that the student has been going through. At the end of each Module, a student is provided with a Study Guide to prepare them for the test that they will be taking for each area of learning.

I have to admit that I do not always order and use the student notebooks that companies sell with their textbooks. I find them to be repetitive of the material and questions that are printed already in the textbook. But like other Apologia Educational Ministries Student Notebooks, this acts as an extension of the material that is being learned in the textbook reading. This is definitely a Student Notebook that you would want to get your college-bound student to use along with their studies in the Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd edition textbook.
We also had the chance to use the Marine Biology 2nd Edition Audio CD, read by Marissa Leinart along with our studies. This MP3 format cd has been a wonderful addition to our studies. Anyone who knows us will know how much we rely on audio books for our studies. We use them in the van for not only pleasure reading but also our curriculum. We can take advantage of road time while listening to our textbooks. The Marine Biology 2nd Edition Advantage Set was actually of great benefit to us because it actually helped us out a lot in pronunciations and getting a basic understanding of the material. The Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd edition is definitely in-depth material, and we were able to grasp a better understanding using the audio files even if we were listening to them at home.
The Exploring Creation with Marine Biology 2nd Edition Advantage Set is an excellent high school elective program for any student who is seeking that extra science credit for their college transcript. It completely fulfills this for students who are seeking a career in animal sciences, especially if they are looking at Marine Biology as a career.
