We had such a wonderful opportunity present itself to us!! We were able to tour the small Wind Turbine farm in Bowling Green, Ohio. It was amazing to hear all about this green energy source.
It made me very dizzy to be staring straight up from the side of the turbine. It's almost 400 feet tall (with the blades) when the blades are turning!!
The blades have the ability to withstand winds up to 200 mph and they are 15 feet wide and 140 feet long.
The inside isn't hollow. When the stand was constructed, the ladder was put on the inside for safety reasons. There are 4 mini-platforms on the way to the top.
Our homeschool group had about 120 people participate in this field trip. It was very interesting! And since it's the only wind farm in Ohio that you can tour, it was a wonderful opportunity!!
