Visiting National Park - Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace

Well we kind of took a break this week.  We were all sick over the weekend, and then we had a snow storm Sunday and Monday.  So I declared an unofficial break, to give my poor body a break this week.  We still talked about some things, but didn't really crack a textbook:)

I thought I would post about some exciting adventures we had this year that I never blogged about.

On our last trip to Tennessee, we went off the beaten path and visited the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln.

A beautiful bronze statue in the museum.  They also had the family bible.  It was small, but there was a movie (which the kids wouldn't sit still for since they had been sitting in the car already for a couple hours).  There was a small gift shop where we purchased some neat Lincoln souveniers including a stove pipe hat.

Every time we go to a tourist area, if there is a friendly cat that lives there, our kids seem to find it and make friends.  It happened quite often while we were touring around Tennessee.



It was definitely worth visiting once.  The kids were in awe of how small their house was.  What you could see inside the actual cabin made them think our house is a mansion (which it isn't by any means).  It was a lot of fun, and since I love anything to do with American History, it was a great day for me.
