Community Helpers project

For one of her Daisy petals, Lydia is working on finding out about our community.  We have been looking at a History book about our small village.  We have been using the Scholastic mini-books to go through and look at all the people it takes to make a community work.  We are also discussing how to show them respect for all their hard work.

We live in a very small town, actually it's a village.  Not even considered a town.  So there are a few people that work to make it run smoothly.  Tomorrow though Lydia is going to take a 'thank you' fruit basket to the people at our post office.  We were going to bake cookies, but found out about their food allergies and other dietary restrictions.  So we got apples and oranges and then went to americangreetings.com and printed them a nice Thank you card.

She's pretty excited about this little project.

  1. What a sweet idea! I remember when Isabella was in Daisy's we made gift baskets for a retirement community that was next to the church and went Christmas caroling. I don't think anyone even goes Christmas Caroling anymore, so it made it that much more fun to me!
