What's in our boxes this week?

We haven't done this in a while.  I actually took the time to sort of work out our week in the workboxes.  Actually all morning yesterday I spent some time decluttering the schoolroom and moving some things around.  So the schoolroom is clean and not scary to go into!!

We actually have been given the opportunity for all 4 kids to try Time 4 Learning for the next 30 days.  So I kind of will be playing it by ear this week to see how that will incorporate into our schedule.  We do have our set items though that we will be finishing.

The boys will be using Time 4 Learning exclusively for Math and Grammar for the next week.  Lydia will be playing in all areas, Math especially.  Caty will be playing in all areas also.  Lydia will be continuing in Headsprout Phonics.  We will be covering a lesson over a two day period and including review.  We will also be working with Erica's K4 Expansion Pack sight words at Confessions of a Homeschooler.  In Science we will be completeing a quick unit on Weather and including the Weather lapbook from Homeschool Share.  In Geography we will be visiting Greenland and Iceland (the Globetrekker DVD covers both countries...so why not).

Here's the girls boxes:

Lydia has new box numbers (Tangled):

Box #1--our study worksheet about Jesus
Box #2--Headsprout Phonics and Sight word practice from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Box #3--Our extra worksheets--She'll also be doing Time 4 Learning in this box.
Box #4--Another Confessions of a Homeschooler activity.
Box #5--Alphabet puzzles , upper and lowercase (found them at Staples)
Box #6--Our story this week.  We started and got behind in it.
 Box #7--Handwriting practice
Box #8--Tag Reading System (thanks to Uncle Bobby and Aunt Lisa)
 Box #9--Fun Box

Caty's Drawers

Box #1---Color Wonder drawer
Box #2--We are doing the alphabet and number section.  She really does well with this book.
 Box #3--ABC Coloring
Box #4--Animal fur match game and Animal Tracks matching game
Box #5--Spring sorting game.  Not by color this time, just by object.

The boys got new box numbers too.

Both Boys Drawer #1---Same as Lydia, we will continue talking about Jesus life.
Both Boys Drawer #2 & #3 is Time 4 Learning.  They will be doing Math and Grammar.

Drawer #4--Same for both boys All About Spelling.  We will continue the next lesson and I will be doing a joint lesson because this will be a very easy lesson for them.  This level is really just reinforcing spelling rules with them.
Now we will have some changes:

Brayden Drawer #5 - Geoboards

Brayden Drawer #6 - Puzzle books he enjoys.
Brayden Drawer #7 -- Lacing Cards.  This may seem young, but it's a great skill for him to work on.  Trust me, this small card will be a frustration to him.
Brayden Drawer#8--Tag system and puzzle book and a Spongebob story.
Brayden Drawer #9--Money tiles game from Discovery Toys.
Brayden Drawer #10 is 20 minutes on Zoodles.com.

Joey Drawer #5--Fine motor skill.  Match the bolts and nuts and then turn the nuts onto each to the middle of the bolt.
Joey Drawer #6--Pick and Draw with Sketch pad
Joey Drawer #7--Phinneas and Ferb puzzle book.
 Joey Drawer #8--Reading
Joey Drawer #9--Pick a small LEGO building project.

We are also working on the Kumon/Scholastic book Giveaway sheets.  I am sitting down with each child individually and completing a sheet a day until done.  There's math and reading activities.  If they do the sheets in both subjects, they can earn 5 books!!

This is a new addition to our house.  The kids really like it.  Joey sat down with his Dad today and played.  They both really enjoyed it.  It really helps to teach them skill.  I'll keep you posted how well it works for us.

We have typical sports and lessons this week.  We also have LEGO Club and the girls have a tea party to go to tomorrow.  Very busy the first part of the week and then it's going to slow down for a few days.  Really looking forward to those days!!!

Everyone have a wonderful week!!!!

  3. I did work boxes last year when I had three at home. They worked great! This year, I just have my 2nd grader at home, and so I didn't think I'd need the work boxes. Big mistake! They just help so much. I need to start them up again.

Next year, I will have a 3rd grader, and 1st grader, and one in Kindergarten. I will definitely do the work boxes then!

Saw your link on the Mom Blog Monday hop - I'm a new follower :)
