Homeschool Mother's Journal Week 14

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week.....

We have been in Nashville, Tennessee all week.  The kids and I casually visiting historic sites around Nashville area.  I have always wanted to go on the Franklin Legends tour, and got the opportunity to do it this time.  Lydia and I enjoyed walking around downtown Franklin listening to the legends about the citizens of Franklin and Civil War stories too.  It was very cool.  We also visited the Tennessee State Museum, The Hermitage (home of Andrew Jackson), Elington Agriculture Museum, and Adventure Science Museum.  Today we are chilling and going to visit the mall.  Something we never do anymore!

In our homeschool this week.....

We travel schooled.  I packed Grammar for all the kids.  We started our State Geography curriculum, and started off with Tennessee....since we were so close to the Capital.  Everyday the kids had a little bit of school and some educational activity.  It's the only way to keep the kids on track.  We cannot take extended time off.  So we pack in lots of educational opportunities.  Watch for the blog posts all week of our adventures.  The internet connection at the hotel was very slow and I have been unable to upload posts with pics this week.

Where we have been going and what we have been doing....

Been in Nashville area all week.  Heading home tomorrow though, and back to our normal crazy schedule.  I was looking at our calendar for the next couple months, WOW!!!  Lots of fun stuff packed in for the next few months.

What has been working for us.....

BIG IQ Kids seems to be working for the boys.  They enjoy it and have been getting less and less frustrated with the interface.  Brayden is flying through the spelling...which is awesome.  He and Joey are struggling still with vocab, which is odd considering Joey's vocabulary is above his age.  Lydia is liking working with me a bit more on phonics.  She got the week off from Looney Tunes, but back to the grind next week.  We have more words to add to our site word wall!!

What I am reading....

Not much.  I am still trying to read Game of Thrones.  Also trying to read the Channel 11 Book Club selection for the month.  Behind on both.  I would like to get through Book 2 of the Game of Throne series by Spring.  That is when the new season starts on HBO.

My favorite thing this week....

Probably the Franklin Legends Tour.  I love history and this was very...very interesting.  I learned so much.  Some stories were probably exaggerated, but still cool.  I'm sure the stories from the early 1800s were not accurately written down and retold a bit off.

Favorite quote.....

Ok, being part of the TOS Crew has allowed me to be part of another wonderful homeschool family.  Being connected on Facebook has given me a bunch of awesome experiences and quotes to read daily.  This was from yesterday!

The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.” --Dorothy Parker

A picture to share....

Joey has been a little off this week, and doing all kinds of silly stuff.  He had med adjustments before we left.  We have seen a bit of improvement in some areas though.  So maybe...just may be on the right track.

He is pretending to be Patrick Starr from Spongebob (I know not the best show in the world....but somedays it's not worth the argument!):

Have a great weekend!!!  Check out what other Homeschool Moms are doing.....
