University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History

Another wonderful homeschool family in our group shared with us info of an unknown treasure.  I love museums, even if my kids move through them too quickly.  Well this was a wonderful treasure.  Lots of cool things to see, including a full wildlife of Michigan floor.

Our trip started rocky, stayed a little rocky throughout the museum.  Brayden was anxious and then the hungries hit.  I tried to snap a few shots to share of some of the awesome exhibits.  I am just glad that we live close enough to make more trips to this museum....because we barely scratched the surface at most of the exhibits.

Petrified trunk of a Callixylon.  This was found near Lexington, IN.

Caty was convinced this was a rhino.  She was pretending to be a tour guide and telling us how they walked and all the info she could come up with.  Here she was showing us how they walked.

Giant clam...it's going to get her arm!!

Do you know the difference between a mastadon and a woolly mammoth?

This was in the oddities section.....How pretty, a heart with birds.

But the picture was made of beetles, bugs, bats and butterflies....

The dinosaur floor was really cool to see!!

The kids are fighting over who is going to talk about this bird for World Travelers Club.  It came from New Zealand.

Another exhibit from the Oddities exhibit.  This is a jar full of snake heads....yuck!!

 Posing by a large quartz.

Space food...

If you live near this museum, Please take a day and visit these wonderful exhibits.  I barely scratched the surface at all there is to see!

  2. So what is the difference with woolly mammoths vs. mastodon. I think it has something to do with teeth but I am just guessing:) Thanks for linking up to the Field trip hop.
