Homeschool Mother's Journal - Week 31

In my life this week....

It's been a little chaotic.  Attitudes and moods have not always been cooperative.  There have been emotional mood swings.  I have had fibro induced insomnia and pain...ugh.  Along with some weird reactions to something I ate.  I have a suspect...and since I had another reaction last night.  I have it narrowed down to walnuts and sunflower seeds.

What I have been working on....

I decided to write up study guides to go with the new American Girl Caroline books.  To help out Lydia, and I will be sharing them here on our blog as I finish them.  I finished Book 1 last night.  I will be doing this for the Saige books also.  I may start creating and sharing more that I use with our kiddos.

I also started the photo a day challenge that some friends of mine did last year.  Basically I am making an album of 1 photo from each day...trouble is I usually have too many to choose from.  We are also working on a memory jar so we can remember all the fun stuff we do this year!

In our homeschool this week....

I tried to half load this week, but feel like I failed at it.  Lydia has completed almost her entire load.  Brayden too.  So I think that we did ok.  Joey is a bit behind....guess who was the emotional roller coaster.

We celebrated National Drinking Straw Day by trying to build structures from straws.  The girls didn't really enjoy this activity...but everyone enjoyed milk shakes and smoothies!!!

Where we have been going and what we have been doing.....

We went to the planetarium yesterday and saw a really cute program about weather in space.

What I have been reading this week....

Kids books.  I didn't get to read anything for fun this week.

What I have been cooking....

A little bit of everything.  I have had to go egg-free again, so revamping all recipes.  I did made Papas con chiles to go with our Enchiladas on Tuesday, and they turned out pretty yummy.  This basically mashed potatoes with peppers and chilies, a little cumin, salt, milk and butter...you can add cheese and sour cream too.  We obviously used coconut milk and a bit of coconut oil as a substitute.  They were good!!

A picture to share from our week....

Lydia and I working on school work at the coffee shop while we are waiting on Grandma at her Salon appointment.

Linking up with other homeschool moms at iHomeschoolNetwork....come for a visit.  Check back tomorrow for our Week in Pictures post!!!

  3. I have to admit we did not actually celebrate National Drinking Straw day here in our homeschool. ;)
Love the idea of the American Girl study guides.

  4. Wow! It seems like American Girl keeps coming out with more girls all the time! Our library only has a few of the older, first girls though. :( My daughter is a little old to be reading them, but she likes too. Royal Diaries is a good historical series for girls too. Anyway, love Lydia's 'tache! LOL

  5. I always fail at half load myself. The kids just assume that if we're doing part of our work that we'll do the rest of it too, and I hate to break up an assumption that gets more work done :-)
