Homeschool Mothers Journal - Week 32

In my life this week.....

I have really trying to be positive.  But feeling like need some time away.  I have been feeling overwhelmed all week.  I think my body might be fighting to stay healthy though.  I have been having massive fibro issues, so that could also be bringing the overwhelming feeling.

Things I am working on.....

Constant cleaning....6 people in this house....24X7 means....a MESS!!!  Oh well.....we will never live in a show home.  We are sporting the lived in look all the time!  I have been lazy this week about keeping supplies picked up.  So will take care of that Saturday am.  The doorway to my supply room simulates mountain climbing.  But I have kept up on the laundry since I have a working washer now!

In our homeschool this week....

We have been sailing through work.  Joey has been working on his Ohio History program.  So far we have learned about the geography of the state and this week the state symbols.  Next week we will be tackling, Ohio's first residents.....and we have a great surprise.  Check out our blog next week.  Our State Historical Society offers classroom boxes for rental, and I was able to rent one.  It arrived today, it is super fun looking!!!

Lydia has finally started allowing herself to read words.  I am doing a happy dance...over...and ...over again!!!  She started new meds this week, and seems to be doing well on them.  We have had no issues with her finishing her school work this week.   Lydia is building her own skiff to go with our American Girl reading.  We just finished Caroline Book 1 and we are working through the study guide that I created for it.  We started out making a model skiff...but it is big enough to play with her American Girl Doll in!!!  She still needs to paint the bottom and we need to work on the sail together tomorrow.

Caty started Flowering Baby she seems to be enjoying the simplicity.  Brayden is squeaking by.  He's learning....enough.  He's learning what he thinks he needs and the my requirements too.  I have to be careful what I say and do, because he really takes everything seriously!!!!!  I am continually working on his education plan.  He's definitely one of those students that wants to just get by.

What I am reading.....

American Girl books so that I can create study guides.  I am also going to be writing some for our Adventure Club.  I plan on doing one on Ben Franklin this weekend. (That is after I finish cleaning the garage...lol)

Kiddos favorite thing this week....

Lydia had some fun this week.  She's been building a skiff for her American Girl Doll.  And yesterday she got to meet one of our local meteorologist, Chris Vickers.

I'm cooking.....

I haven't made anything spectacular.  Lydia and I mixed up a batch of gingerbread, and I was so distracted by everything in the house that I walked away and let her finish added ingredients.  Yeah about 5 minutes after I walked away from the oven the smell started getting bad.  Something got missed....and we got that batch of gingerbread out in a hurry!

I did make a roast with carrots, brussel sprouts and yorkshire pudding to go with my viewing of Downton Abbey Sunday night.  But just some regular things like some chicken quesadillas, one day I made steak burrito bowls.  Maybe next week I will get more creative.

Projects this weekend....
  • Clean my supply room/closet back up.
  • Declutter the boys room and their toy boxes.
  • Clean the garage.
  • Work on planning my portrait business idea.

I'm rewarding the kids with....

Joey asked to watch the Muppets today.  Since he has cheerleading practice later (they are practicing for District competition, so upped his practice schedule), we are going to finish schoolwork this am and then I said they could watch a movie with popcorn after lunch.  I'll use that time to catch up on some office work.

Linking up with other homeschool moms at iHomeschool Network.....
