Homeschool Mothers Journal - Week 44

In my life this week....

I tried to take it easy.  We didn't do any official school work.  In fact, we didn't even get our book projects done until the afternoon before the Book Fair.  I have felt in a rut and decided we needed to step back and just chill a couple weeks.  I didn't accomplish everything I wanted to in the house or read all that I wanted to read, but I did try.  We are going to take another week "off" and only do about half school because I need to clean out our basement.  It's awful.  Piles of garage sale clothes everywhere, and I want to get clothes out for our upcoming trip to Philly.

To be honest, been feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the stuff coming up in the next two months.  So wanting to actually hide under a rock...but I'm not!  Just take one hill at a time.

In our homeschool this week....

Documentaries, reading books, practicing math facts, practicing spelling, some computer lessons, etc.  We are not doing full-time school because I have a bunch I need to finish around the house.  But I want them to keep practicing skills.  We are also working with review materials that we have the privilege of using.  :)

Projects I am working on.....

Clearing off bookshelves. ..... Spring cleaning clothes ..... Planing our next trip to Philadelphia ....... and working on projects for Special Olympics, Girl Scouts and 4-H.  Oh and working on our Summer Science projects and planning for next year's art class.  I am also working on the Saige reading comprehension guide for Lydia (for American Girl Club).

Things I am reading....

Lots of review materials and I started a Karen Robards book called Shattered.  But I usually fall asleep before I can read too much.

Things I am cooking....

I am working on creating a recipe for homemade frosting without using powdered sugar.  We cannot use powdered sugar because it is mixed with corn starch, which Joey and I cannot eat.  Been trying grain-free for Joe and I...but had a craving for tacos, and made my own shells.  There went that night. Then the anniversary cakes started...and I am going to try again next week.  The honey lemon cake tastes so much like a pound cake....yummy.  No self-control.

Photos to share....

We are celebrating 15 years together this week.....

That was then...

This is now....
