Seed Sowers - Gospel Planting Adventures Review

Life just gets us down.  Modern appliances meant to make our life easier make it more difficult by breaking down.  We have personality conflicts with people we thought were friends.  Illness and stress from trying to keep up with modern society just takes its toll on our minds and bodies.  We all need encouragement at times, both spiritually and emotionally.

If you are feeling physically sick, you see a doctor.  If you are feeling spiritually sick and need encouragement, you seek out a spiritual doctor.....your Bible and other spiritually like minded individuals helps you feel better just like a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup.

We recently had the opportunity to review Seed Sowers:  Gospel-Planting Adventures ($12.50) published by Seed Sowers.

Seed Sowers:  Gospel-Planting Adventures takes you on a world tour from Asia to Central and South America.  It features wild stories of the life and death adventures of missionaries that are sowing the seeds of truth to those who have never heard of the true God.  It is really chicken soup for the spiritual soul.

The people we read about were normal, everyday people.  People who we see at the post office, in the grocery store, at the library and in the bank.  They were not superhuman.  They were nervous of the unknown.  They did not have all the answers.  They were ordinary people who had one thing in common, their love of God.

This love of God that they wanted to share with those who have never had the opportunity to hear from the Bible.  

Most of the locations were remote, and required much travel to get there.  Most of the missionaries had similar experiences.  They were not trusted by the people they were so lovingly trying to help.  Can you imagine trying to tell someone their house is on fire, yet them not be able to understand the language you are speaking or even listening because they are being told to not trust you?  That would be very difficult, and yet these kept strong and kept on trying to deliver the message to the people.

Bob and JoAnn Conrad were a couple that we read about that experienced such joy in working with the people of of Papua New Guinea.  They accomplishing so much, and illness hit Bob.  He suffered, but still kept going.  They had to leave New Guinea, and so many thought they were not coming back.  Yet in the end, they fought the obstacles facing them and came back to New Guinea even stronger spiritually.

We have enjoyed reading this book.  But the kids and I enjoy reading stories of missionaries and those who strive to serve their lives for God.   This title left us feeling good and reminded us that those who work for what God desires are those who receive His blessings.

We would all recommend Seed Sowers:  Gospel-Planting Adventures as either personal reading or family read-aloud.  As a read-aloud, you can throw in a little Geography lesson when your kids find the countries where these servants of God served him faithfully.  Your family will also learn about multiple cultures from around the world.
