What we are Up to this Week....Week 42

Ok...I have to admit.  I as a homeschool mom have been feeling like a failure.  We are working really hard getting our Homeschool with Minecraft classes going smoothly, and since we had so many hours banked, the kids got two weeks off.  I planned to play some educational games, but really we played video games, went on a field trip and only did a little reading.

The kids actually complained they were bored without schoolwork :)

So even though I had plans last week, by Monday afternoon I gave up.  It was a week of bloodwork, eye glass orders, errands, and one thing happened after another.  It was just one of those weeks.  But we did have art class, which I will post on Thursday, and 4H.

But I did finally get a little caught up...at least on office work.  But not totally caught up...someday maybe.

Ok....here is what we are going to try and accomplish this week.

Joey
Math---I borrowed a video called Times Tales from my Sister in Law.  Joey was watching it last week and could answer the questions!!  So we are going to watch that again and work on multiplication, along with the help of CTC Math (watch for the upcoming review).
Science---For his 4H project, Joey will be doing a presentation on Weather.  His theme is being a Weather Spotter.  So he will be taking the online weather spotter class this week.  He'll also be working on doing the speech presentation for 4H on this topic also.
History--- Joey did keep up with his Homeschool with Minecraft class on Colonial Life.  So he will be working on Week 3 - Colonial Government
4H---He'll be working on grain and metabolism in his Food & Fitness Fun project book
Reading---He's reading Bunnicula and doing a comprehension guide along with it.

Brayden
Math---Brayden is returning to Saxon Math.  Some he'll be doing some review to get back into using Saxon this week.
Reading---Boxcar Children Pizza Mystery
Science---Circulatory system
History---Brayden didn't stay on top of his assignments, so he'll be working on Colonial Life in History
4H---He and I are going to start researching his project on Weather and Model Trains

Lydia
Reading---She is going to try a program from Talking Fingers.  We are going to try the program and see how it works with her increasing reading confidence.
Language Arts---Going to work on abbreviations and some blends/clusters
Math---multi-digit addition
History---She also got behind in Colonial Life and we'll be working to catch back up.
Science---She'll be finishing the unit on Animals and Plant needs.
Art Journal---I just bought a book on Art Journaling.  So the girls will be doing daily drawing projects.  This week they'll be working on creating pictures with symmetry, partial symmetry and no symmetry.
Spelling---Jack and Jill spelling from Spelling You See (watch for the upcoming review)
Geography-Latitude and Longitude
Piano practice of course too...and dance practice.

Caty
Reading---We'll be chugging along in 100 Easy Lessons
Math---Simple addition
History---Colonial Life
Science---Dinosaurs (Magic Tree House class from Homeschool with Minecraft)
Art Journal---I just bought a book on Art Journaling.  So the girls will be doing daily drawing projects.  This week they'll be working on creating pictures with symmetry, partial symmetry and no symmetry.
iPad apps---Talking Fingers sight word
Piano practice with Kinderbach.

This is the plan right now.  I hope and pray we make it through.  See everyone at the Wrap-up on Saturday!!
