Homeschool Travels - Smithsonian American History Museum

This was the best museum for me.  The kids had fun too.  This is the second time we have visited this great piece of history.  There is so much to see, it's amazing.

 Remember these?

The girls and I were talking about how hard it would be to dress like that everyday.

Visited the Star Spangled Banner that flew at Fort McHenry

 Dorothy's shoes!

Learning how to do laundry the old-fashioned way

 Taking a rest break

 The uniform of General Washington.

 Dresses of Dolly Madison....

 Dresses of Mary Todd Lincoln

We visited the Rutherford Hayes home last year.  They talked about the unique dishes the Hayes settled on for their Whitehouse China.  They sounded so beautiful.  Here is the place settings they chose.

 Toys of the Presidential children....

 Chair belonging to Washington

If we ever need somewhere to visit again....we will choose to go back.  This is a great museum with all kinds of historical exhibits.  It's also free admission, and you only need to pay for parking.  Great way to explore America.
