Homeschool Travels - Smithsonian Native American Museum

Located near the US Capitol building, within a block of the US Botanical Gardens you will find a hidden gem of a museum.....The Smithsonian Native American Museum.  Like all other Smithsonian Museum there is not an admission charge.  The building architecture was amazing!

Caty and I just read about this totem pole when learning about the Northwest Coast Native Americans.

Wonderful displays and historical information at this museum.  I wish I could've stayed and explored (and actually read) longer.  The kids were antsy since this was our last stop of the day.  The artifacts here were interesting and there were hands-on displays to learn more.  Great educational experience!!
