I'm always looking for a little extra help filling in lesson planning.  We recently had a chance to review the Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 and it has provided a little extra help for me right when I was working on planning their Biblical lessons.

The Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 program is a Bible study guide that helps students to grasp a better understanding of their Bibles, and also God and how they can improve their prayers with him.

You can easily use this with any copy/version of the Bible that you use, since you are reading the verse each time and not just filling in the scripture.  There are 36 lessons broken down into short, 2-page worksheet.  Each lesson is designed around the verses of the  My Whole Self Before You prayer modeled after the Lord's Prayer.   Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 contains the themes for how to talk to God in prayer, how God loves and cares for all people, Jesus birth and life on Earth.

You do not need to any special materials to use the Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 program.  You'll want some sort of 3-ring binder to store your pages in, your copy of the Bible, a pencil and a Dictionary.  Nothing fancy at all.  The full-color pages are printed on a heavier paper, so the pages did not tear as they were being used.  (You will need sheets for each student, as they are consumable and not a reproducible packet.)  Sometimes packets such as these will rip as the kids try to use them, and it's frustrating for them and myself.

Lydia was our kiddo that used the Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 curriculum.  Each lesson is really no more than 15 minutes worth of work.  I don't think she spent any longer than that on any of the pages.  She was able to use the pages completely independently.  If she had a question about what a question is asking, she could come and get me.

Each lesson is broken down into roughly 7 - 8 questions.  Most questions are directing your student's attention to their Bible.  They are learning new vocabulary or reinforcing Biblical terminology as they answer each question.

At the end of each lesson, your student is directed to fill in a prayer.  They can fill it in to help them with their prayers and even help them to put their thoughts into words for their prayers.

To be honest the prayer guide was not a big deal for us.  It is a nice short outline to help children who are struggling with gathering their thoughts.  But since we have already been covering prayers in our studies as a family, Lydia didn't really do this section.  The example above gives you an idea of what the prayer journal is like.

I did like the scriptural questions, and the fact that the answers that she needed to look for were right in her Bible!  This was a great reminder and reinforcement for her to continue to look to the Bible for answers to problems in your life.

Lydia was able to use this program very independently.  A great plus for me with juggling so much lately.  She could even self-check her answers with the answer key at the back of the booklet.

The Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 has been a great addition to our family study about Jesus life also.  It did a great job explaining topics and incidents that happened in his life, as well as explaining some of the religious leaders he encountered while on Earth.  The Background Information on the Pharisees and Sadducees was excellent.

If you need a little extra help or an extra Biblical study program for your student, The Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 is definitely a great value and an excellent resource to help your student to improve their Bible study skills.  The lessons are the perfect length for shorter attention spans, and you could easily adjust how many you do per week to meet your needs.
