Another week of Zoo Teen Activities. Between her assignments we explored the new Museum of Science that was opened last week.
Brayden and Lydia both worked on Monday at the library in the am. They have beautiful tea rose bushes around the library, and it had rained. Just pretty.
Then we headed to Indiana to watch our niece play softball. Her team won again!
Our nephew "stow-awayed" and came home with us for the week. Monday night we used binoculars to look at Jupiter and its moons. We could not see exact details, but we were able to see them. That was pretty cool.
We also examined the moon.
Tuesday was a cooking day. Now that we have started our "New School Year", sort of....we have switched from World Geography to State Geography. I just decided to randomly do in Alphabetical Order.
That afternoon our local library sponsored a no-bake cookie recipe. Now the pie above was made lower carb/sugar. But the cookies were NOT. So she made a very small batch, and it still affected her. But she had fun making them, and we are going to re-work the recipe to make it more diabetic friendly.
Tuesday gave us a few hours in the am to play and work on schoolwork. We are working a few days a week on schoolwork between activities and camps. I want them to work on things they are behind on. Keep their forward momentum going. Caty is working on the Matific app here. Watch for our upcoming review of this fun, all ages Math app/online program.
Lydia needs to finish her 4H projects. She's still experimenting with the pet food from this project in Veterinary Sciences.
I found these Road to Writing books for Caty. This was one of her projects this week. I couldn't have put it better.
Lydia had a volleyball game Tuesday night. She has been practicing her serving and can get it over the net most times. She plays on the modified team and is starting to move around much better on the court. At practice she was doing pretty well.
On Wednesday, Robbie and I made Peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for National Peanut Butter Cookie Day.
Brayden had two shifts at the library this week. His second shift was more Game Time. He also worked two days at his regular job this week too. Next week he starts a 3 week employment camp.
While Brayden was at work at the library, I enjoyed the sunshine outside. I worked in the park by the library. I had been on the go all day.
Lydia worked at the zoo all day on Wednesday. She said she did various things including the tiger game cart, watched kids at the Splash stream, and the guinea pig hutch.
The great people at Joey's Dayhab set up a model building station for Joey to work at. They put a label on his table.
On Thursday after I dropped the boys off at work, I took these three bowling to a new-to-us bowling alley. They all had fun.
Joey and I took a friend's little ones to our story time downtown. I was sitting and listening and suddenly realized that Joey wasn't with me. I found him all relaxed in the furniture area...lol
Friday morning while working on some other projects, we got the opportunity to see the Hot Rod Power Tour 2019 as it traveled through our area. There are approximately 6,000 cars that traveled through our area. We got to see so many great cars that were reconditioned and fixed up. It was great! Some of them even threw toys, candy and flags at the kids too.
Friday night after a brief 4H meeting, the girls cheered with our County Squad at our County's Relay for Life. They cheered the Survivor Lap. This is such a heart-wrenching event. There are very few people who have not been touched in some way by cancer.
Saturday was a busy day. The boys had a class about relationships that they attended in the morning. I cut up enough fruit for 5 bowls of fruit salad before I left to take the boys to class. Then we headed to my nephew's graduation party. It was a fun and busy evening with friends.
Hope everyone had a great week!! I need to desperately find a week where I can just do nothing. This week is a slight view at how much time I am spending on the road and trying to keep the kids caught up or get caught up in areas where they are struggling. But there is not going to be a break anytime soon....but maybe in August I can find a few days!
