Lydia's Curriculum 2019-2020

Lydia is going to be an 8th grader!!  Holy cow!  She works between a 6/7th into a high school level depending on the subject and work load.

History - A History of the U.S. by Joy Hakim - We'll be going through 4-5 volumes this year in this series depending on how long we spend studying extra certain areas of history.

A Beka Health - Health in a Christian Perspective - She'll work on this book over a two year period most likely and really explore the internal working of the human body.

US Geography - Using various resources over the next couple of years for this.  We'll be visiting each state and working our way through the country alphabetically.  State meals and snacks will be prepared.  They will also work on their drawing skills using the A Kid's Guide to Drawing America Series.  We have all 50 books.  They are hard to come by and I'm super excited to get started!  We'll also use Smithsonian Aerial America and various books from the library.

Literature/Spelling/Grammar - We will be using Hewitt Homeschooling Lightning Literature for this subject.  She's almost out of the Elementary level and heading into the Junior High series this year.  Emphasizing Sentence and paragraph structure.  She'll also be participating in a book club at a local library.

She'll also be working on her Bible reading and character development studies.

Extras include:  Piano and crafts at our co-op, Special Olympics track, swimming, cheer, tennis, basketball, bowling, and possibly soccer.  Art studies will be on a project-by-project basis.  She really wants to concentrate on her drawing.  But also learn how to crochet and knit.  And even make t-shirt yarn that we can crochet with.

She will also continue with in the Zooteens in the Year round program if her application is chosen.  Hopefully she is actually doing as well as they are telling me she is...lol.  She'll be responsible for 8 volunteer hours a month through the school year.

Here's to another busy year!!
