Cool inventions from Connecticut!

Connecticut is full of beautiful places to visit.  Here's is a travel commercial that we viewed.

We learned some great things about this state.....

Fun facts from Connecticut

We also learned that.....the Hamburger was invented there in 1905.

Louis' Lunch: This New Haven, Connecticut, burger joint claims to have invented our favorite lunchtime (and dinnertime) meal in 1900. From its website: "One day in the year 1900 a man dashed into a small New Haven luncheonette and asked for a quick meal that he could eat on the run. Louis Lassen, the establishment's owner, hurriedly sandwiched a broiled beef patty between two slices of bread and sen the customer on his way, so the story goes, with America's first hamburger."

So we made burgers...this was mine with gluten free bread and dairy free cheese....it was sooooooo yummy!
We learned that PEZ was invented in Connecticut.  We watched a great video on the PEZ company on You Tube.

We also read about a HUGE dinosaur park in Connecticut.  Dinosaur State Park, near Hartford.

Here, on a site discovered by a construction worker in 1966, while running a bulldozer to excavate for a new state office building, is a dome constructed to cover and protect a portion of a sandstone layer covered with over 2000 dinosaur tracks. Inside, a visitor will see over 200 of those 2000 tracks, along with many educational exhibits which explain what the visitor can examine.

We made coffee ground playdough so that our fossils would look "real".  And then we took some dinosaurs and started making our fossils..

We watched the movies below.  The playdough was fun and messy...Caty loved playing in the dough and keeps getting it out.  (also went well with our sense of smell project because of the coffee...lol)

Next week we will be visiting Delaware!
