Homeschool Mothers Journal - Week 41

In my life this week......

Actually been working on just getting by.  Our plans for the week have changed.  We should be on our way to Philadelphia right now, but that trip has now been postponed for a month.  Hopefully warmer weather so we can explore better.  I am a bit grateful though because I am really drowning in making gifts.  Our family anniversary is coming up and the girls are making lots of presents for their cousins, grandparents and aunt.

It's been a rough roller coaster with Joey, and it has been extremely stressful.  I know he is feeling it too, and so confused why he is having lots of weird feelings and anger at some times.  But he is being more careful about food, or at least he promises to not fight me as bad.

In our homeschool this week......

We are on track to get our planned lessons done for the week.  I just keep an eye on how much is planned, and that is my goal.  Too stressed out is not working for any of us.  A project is not fun if I am so stressed out, that I am mentally exhausted when we are done.  I am really working at the kids seeming me read more outside of schoolwork, and hope that it encourages them to do the same.  Lydia and I are working on read togethers also.  She has made mass improvements in her reading the last couple months!!  It's awesome!!!

Tomorrow Lydia is going to start working on her Book Festival project.  Our homeschool group is having a Non-Edible book fest where students created book dioramas or shadow boxes of favorite books.  We call it the Celebrate Books Festival.  This year a local television reporter will be our judge, so we are all super excited!  I think I am going to help Caty start tomorrow also.  They all have book titles picked out at least.  Now onto creating their displays!

Places we're going, and people we're seeing.....

The kids had their first 4H meeting this week.  Lydia loves Cloverbuds.  Joey got extremely bored because not only is our meeting later, early evening, but it was election night for the officers.  So he needed to sit through lots and lots of people telling why they would be good in certain offices.  He made it through, but not before I caught him with a sucker that someone gave him.  Yeah....you guessed it, made with corn syrup.  30 minutes later he was ranting and having meltdowns :(

The girls had dance and gymnastics.  Lydia is really doing a great job in gymnastics.  She is really liking those classes!!!

Things I'm working on.....

Cleaning our house.  I need to clean the garage this weekend....in the worst way!  I need to do a 10 minute pick up in my office also.  It's also time to make another weekly menu.  I tried to do monthly menus and that just didn't work.

My kids favorite things this week.....

I think Lydia's favorite was going with Daddy to see the new Oz movie.

One of my favorite things this week...

Learning Yoga with Lydia.  It has been fun!!

I'm cooking....

Lots of things to keep the boys happy.  I made spaghetti casserole and hm chicken n dumplings.  Tomorrow Joey is going to learn how to make gf/df pizza pockets for a 4H project.  So he is making lunch for us.

I'm reading....

I finished Danielle Steel's Hotel Vendome...

and now I am going to try a Karen Robards book...

and I am going to read on this title.  I feel like I need to change some things for the boys, but not sure what direction to go.  Feel like life skills is going to be a bigger priority this upcoming year.

A photo to share from the week....

Hooked on Science put a challenge out to build a tower using spaghetti and mini-marshmallows.  We accepted that challenge...
We barely made it.  Got to 12 inches plus the flag before it fell.  I think bigger marshmallows would've been better.

Hope everyone had a wonderful week!
