We recently had the opportunity to review The Action Bible Anytime Devotions from David C. Cook.  What a fun way and engaging way to brings kids closer with their Creator.

The Action Bible Anytime Devotions provides 90 Biblical lessons to children of almost any age in subjects of trust, love, service, hope, strength, faith, and courage.  The lessons are presented in a way to promote turning to their Bibles to provide answers for the problems they are experiencing now.   I thought that The Action Bible Anytime Devotions did a great time to show students that the Bible is great for everyone and not just their parents.

Each lesson starts out with a subject that is facing all of us.  This could be anywhere from how to handle anger to listening skills.  Next comes a scripture to help the student to understand how they feel and how to correct the trouble.

Then there is further explanation to help students to understand the scriptural thought and how they can apply this in their lives.

At the very end of the lesson is a section called TAKE IT FURTHER.  This section may point the student to another section in the book and show them how anger and compassion can really be felt at the same time, and how to overcome one and encourage the other.  It also can point to other scriptures in the Bible to turn to as they work to overcome the problem.

The pictures in The Action Bible Anytime Devotions are well done and the entire book is full color.  It almost gives the book a comic book feel to me.  So if you have a child struggling with reading or wanting to read, this book would be very encouraging to them since the illustrations really draw children into what is there.

The Action Bible Anytime Devotions is really a great addition to all denominations.  We were able to use our own copy of the Bible to follow along.  I really liked that the issues that were tackled were down to earth and really what kids are experiencing.  The ways listed for students to be able to help themselves were practical.  They ranged from encouraging praying in times of distress to creating a playlist of your favorite worship songs as encouragement.

The girls enjoyed when we sat down to studying through each roughly 2 page devotion.  That was a wonderful addition, they were all short in length.  So really perfect for short attention spans.  True discussions can be had between you and your children while going through the devotions.  At the same time, children can easily read through these independently if that is what is desired.  The flexibility is wonderful with this resource.
